Creation of the Self-Governing Region of Trenčín

The territory of the Slovak Republic is divided into eight territorial units – Self-Governing Regions. They were established in 2001 by the decision of the National Council of the Slovak Republic under the Act on the Self-Governing Regions No. 302/2001 on Administration of the Higher Territorial Units. By virtue of this Act, the Self-Governing region of Trenčín became an organization governed by its regional authorities - Regional Assembly and President of the Region.
